Loving Life Saying Goodbye to Franco Sarto Flats

Today I say goodbye to my first fancy flats I found for Berth, the The Franco Sarto Simona Flat.  I couldn't find them in a store, but you can still find pairs on Poshmark.  I sized up two sizes since they weren't a wide width.  I loved them, because the top of the shoe (very technical terms I know) came over my trouble spot on Bertha where fluid can collect into a ball without a whole shoes covering the top of my foot.

They have just been sitting in my closet not worn for a while, but I haven't been able to take the plunge and get rid of them.  Recently I watch Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, she does something when she gets rid of an item, she thanks it.  At first I laughed at this, but in secret I tried it one day on a top I knew I needed to say fare-long to.  It's embarrassing, but I am super sentimental about my clothes.  I always tie a memory to it, which is why I still have my old, too small, faded hoodie I wore in the hospital when I had my son.  Well for the top it worked, I was able to thank it and pass it along.  So thank you Simona flats, you were so good to me and helped launch me into having the confidence and patience to try on a million pairs of shoes, because one of those pairs might work like you did.  Ok totally not offended if you're laughing right now.  I have friends who are not sentimental at all and roll their eyes and giggle at me, I'll take pride in giving you a smile today!  xo-Allie

I guess it's time to introduce Bertha, my previous post might make a little more sense.  Some women name their boobs, I name my legs.  My skinny "normal" leg is Tiffany who I imagine would be a cheerleader and a runner.  And then there is my lymphedema leg Bertha, who bakes likes science.  Ok I know that is so stereotypical, but it's makes me laugh and makes other people feel awkward.  I mean they named a golf club "Big Bertha" so really I'm just following suit.  Bertha has been with me since 2007 and isn't going away anytime soon, so it was only proper she be named.  We have a love hate relationship, but in the end she is a big part of my life and according to my husband "his favorite leg in the world."  Yes you can "awwww" now.  And yes I hit the jackpot with him.  XOXO-Allie

Summer Sandals- Save and Splurge

Summer can be dreaded for Lymphies, the heat on our limbs can cause them to swell even more.  Add to that bearing our compression in swimsuits and sandals, it can be emotionally difficult as well.  I hope my post will alleviate some of the concern.  I've collected some summer sandals that will fit your lymphie leg (all the sandals listed come in wide widths or will most likely fit people with LE) For each style I've included a "Save" option and "Splurge."  With shoes I like to purchase some fun trends and not spend a lot, but then there are some shoes I know will last and I will get a lot of use from, I am willing to spend a little more on these.  You may think "Allie it's only March, summer is months away!?"  I've noticed that a lot of the seasonal items are out of stock by the time it's the actual season to shop for, so I have learned to grab an item if I really love it, because chances are it will be gone next time I shop.  I hope yo
